Lockyer Valley Regional Airport to Go Ahead

Queensland’s Attorney-General, Paul Lucas, is to officially announce that the Lockyer Valley Regional Airport (LVRA) is to go ahead. The official launch is to take place at the Lockyer Valley Cultural Centre, Lake Apex, Gatton on Dec 20th.

The airport is to have a 1250m sealed runway, aligned 09/27, ideal for the prevailing wind in the area. The plan shows 103 hangar sites, mostly 2200 sq m each, managed by a body corporate

Construction is to commence in early 2012 and the field will be usable by the end of the year.

Here’s the LVRA website link.

Nice to see a reversal of the trend towards closing airfields, yes?
