weeeell....

the 380 was taxying very fast...and it was night = darkish....
and the white ute going across in front of the smaller aircraft forced it to stop...

but hey, this is all about ground control of aircraft AND vehicles airside

if airfield operators do not know by now how wide a 380 is, they should be employed elsewhere
like maybe driving taxis, or sumfin else suited to their level of professionalism...

Lets debate something more worthy than a mandated safety device.
Apart from the RAA Aus politics I'd like to put in my 10 cents worth.
The new 406 ELTs/EPIRBS are new technology that work incredibly well and super accurately when coupled with its own GPS.
The old 121.5/243 system was old and inaccurate.
Anyway its disbanded now around the world & thats why the FAA is finally catching up. If it still allowed the old system to apply the only hope is that some passing airliner/corporate jet hears the distress signal on 121.5Mhz and only for a short time....It could expose itself to damages litigation in a US court too I would think, in case of deaths resulting from the old system
I personally have experienced the old 121.5 distress signal emanating from where ever, and its rather hit and miss and time consuming for the coordinating search authorities etc.
TIMES MOVE ON, ACCEPT IT STAY OUT OF THE SKY---we don't have an inalienable "right" to navigate the skies inappropriately equiped.
Its not expensive and what price do you put on being rescued quickly to probably not rescued at all ?
Some of us even want to fly without radios which is incomprehensible to me.
I feel too many in the RAA want to fly this way which is not in our best interests ultimately.
Do not confuse this with some vendetta or imposition because as far as I can see it was correctly decided as mandated by CASA.
How the process was done.... who cares, its safety and its/was mandated, end of story.
The board has more on its plate than having to concern itself with "process" about this.
I have NO interests of the board or anyone else in case anyone wants to know nor do I own an aircraft supplies shop.

Members, Your input is vital, you must use your vote to make the RAAus a true members org and not dictated by a few. The AGM is where changes to the Constitution can be voted on only by members who can get to Canberra on a Thursday, and by correct proxy votes, please use your vote.( How about we hold the AGM at Temora) or at least a meeting where all Executive, Staff, Board etc could attend. Please vote.

Maybe I didn't read enough of the RAA magazine to find out the reason, but I would like to know what the explanation for taking one of our Qld reps off us is.
It's not like they are paid employees, so why not just add an extra one in Victoria ?

While I'm about it, I have only ever received ONE email from any RAA rep ( which means at least one of them has my email address) which is a bit of a shame in this day and age. I would like to be more informed at a personal level without resorting to reading the RAA magazine ( which has been censored in the past) so I can learn more about what's going on. The Flying Tigers have interesting discussions and are a great group of ratbags (in the nicest way) but it means having to fly there each month to keep up to speed, when email would be more efficient.

Ah, yes. You have to wonder sometimes at the way they make decisions there in the raaus. As you say john, there are endorsements for everything these days. Is it just a coincidence that many members of the raaus board run flying schools? You don't suppose that they could make money out of all those endorsements do you? When I look at my GA licence, it's conspicuously bare of such nonsense.

I agree with Kiwi.

Who aked us about the alphabet soup on the pilot certificate? The amount of endorsments is ridiculous.
Do I need WS to fly with a windscreen?
