ADS-B – Anything but Safe

It’s emerged from the States recently that ADS-B, as it stands is eminently hackable. That the codes being transferred through the system are not even encrypted.

At least two hackers have been able to get into the system and “create” fake traffic. Fortunately, they were not bent on causing mayhem, they were only trying to see how it worked. Just as well they did, too, ADS-B’s shortcomings are serious enough to render it completely unsafe.

Makes your ASIC card look pretty worthless, doesn’t it?

This is the great saviour that CASA wants to impose on aviation in Australia.
